Kratom — Guarded By Kiwi

That's Kiwi up there, perched on the leaves like he pays rent. He's the bird we put in charge of this shelf and he takes the job unreasonably seriously — nothing gets on this page without a COA and a straight answer. He's small, he's smug, and he will absolutely judge you for skipping the safety section below. Don't skip the safety section below.

Two strains, capsules, lab tested, COAs published right here on the page. Kratom is not hemp, it's not a cannabinoid, and it's not something we're going to sell you with a wink. It's a different plant with a genuinely different risk profile, and we'd rather tell you that up front than have you find out sideways.

⚠ Read This First — Not Optional

Kratom is not FDA approved for any use, and the FDA has publicly advised against taking it. We make no health claims about it — none, not one — and anyone who does is selling you a story. Here's what actually matters:

  • Dependence and withdrawal are real and documented. Regular daily use can lead to physical dependence. This is the single most important thing on this page.
  • Never combine with alcohol, opioids, benzos, or other sedatives. Most kratom-associated deaths have involved mixing with other substances. This is where the actual danger lives.
  • Talk to a doctor first if you take any prescription medication — especially antidepressants — or if you've got a heart, liver, or mental-health condition.
  • Start with one capsule. See how you land before you go anywhere near more.
  • Don't drive until you know exactly how it affects you.
  • Not for anyone pregnant or nursing. Full stop.
  • Banned outright in several states — Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin among them — plus various counties and cities. Check yours. The map changes.

Adults 21+ only. If you're using kratom to manage something serious, please talk to an actual doctor instead of a hemp store — we can sell you capsules, we can't look after you.

The Two Strains

Whole leaf, encapsulated for consistent serving size. Third-party tested, batch verified, COA linked on each.

Chill — Red Maeng Da

Red Vein Leaf · 10 or 30 Capsules · 21+

Red Maeng Da, selected for a steady consistent profile and encapsulated so you're not eyeballing loose powder on a kitchen scale. Clean grind, tight batch standards, paperwork published. Start at the 10-cap sampler. There's no reason to buy thirty of something you've never taken.

TrainWreck — Green Maeng Da

Green Vein Leaf · 10 or 30 Capsules · 21+

Green Maeng Da, balanced profile, same encapsulation and the same batch discipline as the Red. Sourced carefully, ground clean, tested independently. Same advice: 10-cap sampler first. Find out how it sits with you before committing to the bigger jar.

Safety — Questions People Actually Ask

Is kratom safe?

It carries real risks and we're not going to tell you otherwise. It's not FDA approved for any use, the FDA has warned against it, dependence with regular use is documented, and adverse effects including nausea, dizziness, constipation and elevated heart rate are commonly reported. Liver injury has been reported, uncommonly. Anyone selling kratom as harmless is lying to you. Go in informed or don't go in.

Can you get addicted to kratom?

Yes. This is the thing to take seriously. Regular daily use can produce physical dependence, and people report real withdrawal — irritability, insomnia, muscle aches, nausea, sweating. It's not hypothetical and it's not rare. If you're finding you can't skip a day, that's the signal to talk to a doctor, not to increase the amount.

What should I never mix kratom with?

Alcohol. Opioids. Benzodiazepines. Any other sedative. This is the most important answer on the page — the large majority of kratom-associated deaths have involved combining it with other substances rather than kratom alone. Also flag it with your doctor if you're on antidepressants, since there's interaction risk with serotonergic medication. One thing at a time, or nothing.

How much should I take?

One capsule. Then wait — properly wait — before you even think about more. Kratom is dose-dependent in ways people don't expect, and taking more sooner is how a mild experience turns into a miserable one. That's also why we sell a 10-capsule sampler: so you can find your footing without committing fifty bucks to a plant you've never tried.

Is this the strong extract stuff?

No, and that's deliberate. These are whole leaf capsules — not a concentrated extract and not a 7-OH enhanced product. Concentrated 7-hydroxymitragynine products are dramatically stronger than leaf and carry a correspondingly higher risk profile. We don't stock them. Leaf is the more conservative form and it's the only form Kiwi lets on the shelf.

Is kratom legal?

It isn't federally scheduled in the US, but it's banned outright in several states — Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Rhode Island, Vermont and Wisconsin among them — and in various counties and cities on top of that. Some states have gone the other way with Kratom Consumer Protection Acts setting labelling and age rules. The map changes and it's your job to check yours before ordering. We won't ship where we can't.

Will kratom show on a drug test?

Not on a standard 5-panel screen — kratom isn't an opioid and it doesn't contain THC, so it's not what those tests look for. But kratom-specific panels exist and some employers and programs use them. We don't certify any testing outcome, and if you're under a monitoring program you should assume it can be detected and ask first.

What's the difference between Red and Green?

Vein colour, which reflects when the leaf was harvested and how it was dried. Red Maeng Da (Chill) is generally described as the steadier of the two; Green Maeng Da (TrainWreck) as more balanced. Beyond that we're not going to tell you what either will do to you — individual response varies a lot and we're not making claims. Try the samplers.

Why does the COA matter so much on kratom?

Because this category has a genuinely bad contamination history — salmonella outbreaks and heavy metal findings have hit the kratom industry hard, and a lot of what's sold online has never seen a lab. Both our strains have published third-party COAs linked right on their cards above. Read them. And if any other seller can't produce one, that tells you what you need to know.

How should I store it?

Sealed, cool, dark, dry — same as any botanical. Well out of reach of children and animals, which matters more here than on most of our shelves. Capsules look like supplements and kids don't know the difference.

Who's Kiwi?

Our kratom mascot, a bird of considerable ego who guards the leaves and has strong opinions about paperwork. He's branding, not pharmacology — he doesn't make the product safer, he just refuses to sit on a shelf that skips its COAs. Respect the bird.

Where do I buy this without getting knocked off?
